About Kai no kuni Long Trail PASaPASA

The Mountains of Yamanashi

To the north, the Yatsugatake Mountains and Mt. Kinpu. To the west, the Southern Alps. To the east, the Koshu Alps, including Mt. Daibosatsu. To the south, the Misaka Mountains and Mt. Fuji. These magnificent peaks, which stand among Japan’s most iconic mountains, are not only breathtaking to climb but also to behold. They are a defining treasure of Yamanashi Prefecture—one of its greatest natural assets.

The Kai no Kuni Long Trail is a circular route we have designed to weave through these stunning mountain landscapes, offering ever-changing views and winding around the Kofu Basin under the watchful presence of Mt. Fuji.

Concept

Throughout this event, we invite participants to fully embrace the ultimate adventure—a return to simple, pure enjoyment. Together with fellow hikers, you will walk through the mountains, bathe, eat, and sleep. Nothing more, nothing less. Step away from the routines of daily life and immerse yourself in an extraordinary experience. By the time the journey ends, what once felt unfamiliar may become second nature—a unique and unforgettable memory.

This event is not about testing your physical limits. Instead, it is a journey—an immersive experience where you can savor breathtaking landscapes, delicious food, and relaxing hot springs alongside newfound friends. To make the most of it, two things are essential: physical endurance and a spirit of consideration. Building strength will allow you to fully enjoy the adventure, and with that ease comes a deeper connection with those around you. We believe that, in time, this experience will become a source of personal strength—something that stays with you long after the trail is behind you.

Giving Back to the Community

This event also serves a greater purpose—helping to rediscover and preserve Yamanashi’s mountain heritage. While famous peaks such as those in Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains are well known, the prefecture is home to countless lesser-known trails, once carved out by locals for daily life. These trails hold rich history, yet some have fallen into disrepair.
By venturing into these areas, participants will have the chance to contribute—clearing branches, moving stones, and helping to maintain the trails for future hikers. Beyond conservation, the event also fosters a deeper connection between the mountains and the rural communities at their foothills, bringing new energy to areas facing depopulation.
Looking ahead, we aim to promote Yamanashi, the Mountainous Prefecture, drawing more hikers to explore its vast, diverse landscapes and ensuring that these incredible trails continue to be appreciated for generations to come.
