Kai no kuni Long Trail PASaPASA HIRAGA JUN CUP 2022
Day 3, November 10th, is the day when the Kai no kuni Long Trail HIRAGA JUN CUP will be closest to Mt. Fuji.
There are no more mountains blocking the view of Mt. Fuji, which could be seen in the distance from our first summit, Mt. Kayagatake, three days ago.
It’s so cool that the cheers from the crowd get louder.
On the third day, the itinerary was a little shorter so we started at 4:30, 30 minutes later than usual.
Right from the start we were greeted by the dim, gigantic Mt. Fuji, the night view of Lake Kawaguchi, and the morning sun.
Our guide that day was the village mayor, Aoki Mitsuhiro, who lives just below the lily of the valley colony where we were camping. He’s a superman who knows everything about this area.
On the third day, everyone was in high spirits as they continued to ride with the beautiful and large Mt. Fuji on their left side from the morning.
This is the Misaka Mountains. The highest peak is Mt. Kurodake at 1,793m. It is the mountain that separates the Kofu Basin from the Fuji Five Lakes region.
At Nakanokura Pass on the shores of Lake Motosu, we all took a commemorative photo with Mt. Fuji on the 1000 yen bill in the background. “You can’t take such leisurely photos during a race, can you?”
When we arrived at Gohan Pass further ahead, we decided to take a photo of Amir munching on an onigiri in front of a sign, so we borrowed one from Mika Taniguchi, who was holding one.
But then, in the same vein, I ate the onigiri without permission, which made her furious?! (laughs) That’s what happened.

Here we said goodbye to Mt. Fuji and headed down what appeared to be an old, rough road, guided by the village mayor, Aoki, towards Shimobe Onsen town.
The road was rough, but it was fun.
On the third day, our destination, Shimobe Onsen Town, is the holy land of “Laid-Back Camp△,” an anime about high school girls who love camping.

Today is the middle day.
We’re staying at an inn instead of camping.
And the place we’re staying is the Shimobe Hotel, a long-established hotel in the hot spring town.
The many different types of baths, the delicious food, and the fluffy futons are all top-notch.
In the evening, some people took long baths, some did laundry, some went to bed early, and some played hot spring table tennis.
Everyone recharged their batteries at their own pace, and had a good night…
