Day 1: The Ascent to Okuchichibu
The journey begins with a dramatic climb from Nirasaki City to the highest peak in Okuchichibu. Along the way, we follow historic mountain roads and visit the final resting place of Kyuya Fukada, author of 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. The day ends with a well-earned soak in a hot spring.
🛑 To preserve fragile ecosystems and landscapes, special protected areas within the national parks are designated as walking-only zones.

Day 2: Traversing the Koshu Alps
A ridge traverse of the Koshu Alps offers ever-changing perspectives of Mt. Fuji. If time allows, the Misaka Mountains provide a stunning night view over the Kofu Basin.
🛑 Protected areas remain walking-only zones to safeguard nature.

Day 3: Descending to Takeda Shingen’s Hidden Hot Spring
A descent through the Misaka Mountains leads to Shimobe Onsen, a legendary hot spring once favored by warlord Takeda Shingen. The route offers sweeping views of Mt. Fuji and the Fuji Five Lakes, perfect for recharging before tackling the Southern Alps.

Day 4: Sacred Paths & the Southern Alps Front Trail
The journey continues via Mt. Minobu, a revered peak with deep spiritual significance. Walking ancient pilgrimage paths and passing through historic post towns, we move closer to the high alpine terrain.

Day 5: The Grand Finale – Mount Houou
The final day is the climax of the adventure, culminating in an ascent of Mount Houou. From the highest point of the five-day journey, panoramic views reward our efforts. A classic descent brings us back to Kei Setsu Dormitory, the official finish line.
