DAY3

November 7th: 50km / 2,500mD+ / 3,500mD-
On Day 3, we will traverse the Misaka Mountains from the lily of the valley colony parking lot and head toward Shimobe Onsen. The highest point of the day is Mt. Onigatake at 1,738m, known for its striking rock formations resembling demon horns, while the lowest point is Shimobe Onsen at 218m. This day provides a crucial opportunity to recover from the intense effort of Days 1 and 2 at Shimobe Onsen, also known as “Takeda Shingen’s hidden hot spring,” where the legendary warlord is said to have healed his battle wounds. It is also a day to recharge in preparation for the challenges of Days 4 and 5 in the Southern Alps.

Key highlights of the day include breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji from the Fujiyama Twin Terrace and Oishi Pass, as well as the iconic vantage point from Nakanokura Pass, famously depicted on the old 1,000-yen bill. As we traverse the Misaka mountain range from Mt. Onigatake to Nakanokura Pass, we will be treated to sweeping views of Mt. Fuji and the Fuji Five Lakes—Lake Saiko, Lake Shojiko, and Lake Motosu—unfolding below.
